What have they been up to? Rob Valentino

Position: defender

Orlando City 2011-2014

Place of birth: Hoffman Estates, Illinois

In the latest of our 'what have they been up to?' series, we take a look at the career of defensive stalwart Rob Valentino after he left the City Beautiful.

In 2011 Valentino made the switch from the other end of the I4, and started out on a trophy laden stint with Orlando City. The defender made 77 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2014, scoring 9 goals. His first goal came in a 1-0 victory over the Charlotte Eagles. He was voted USL Defensive Player of the Year in 2011, and was named captain following on from his debut season.

Following short spells at Arizona United and OCB, Valentino turned his had to coaching. He did some work as an assistant coach at OCB for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Following the conclusion of that season, he headed north to take charge of Atlanta United 2, before stepping up as a coach for the first team in 2019. He now serves as Frank Dr Boer's assistant.
